Welcome to Reception, Also Known As Ducklings Class
Thank you for visiting our class page. On this page you will find key information about our EYFS curriculum and classroom. We will also be sharing some of our learning with you so please come back to visit to see what is new.
Teacher: Miss Waddington
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Bloxham
Please ensure that you are signed into Class Dojo and refer to this for regular news, information and updates regarding your child’s learning.
We follow the Little Wandle phonics programme and enjoy daily phonics lessons and small group reading sessions. Please have a look at the phonics area on the school website for more information.
Once your child has settled into school, they will receive a reading folder containing a reading record and school reading book. The reading record is to document the reading you complete with your child at home. Can the children please bring in their reading folders each Thursday so we can help them change their books.
P.E lessons will take place on Mondays and Fridays; please ensure that your child turns up to school wearing their named P.E kit, long hair is tied up and earrings are removed.
We have a birthday display in Ducklings class and we love to help the children celebrate their birthdays at school.
The theme for the first half of the Autumn term is ‘Marvellous Me!’ The children will be learning all about themselves, our families and homes and how we are all special and unique. We will be learning all about the human body and how to keep ourselves happy and healthy.
Outdoor learning is important for children’s development and helps them make sense of the world. It provides children with many physical and emotional benefits, as well as great learning and exploration opportunities. Research has proven that outdoor learning boosts confidence, social skills, communication, motivation, physical skills, knowledge and understanding. We spend a lot of time learning outdoors so can you please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for the changing weather conditions and that they bring a warm coat to school each day and have a pair of wellies at school.
We greatly appreciate the involvement of parents and carers at our school. If you have any special interest or knowledge in any of the areas to be covered this term then please do let us know.
For more information regarding your child’s learning, please read our curriculum letter. I look forward to working with you and your child during this next important step in their school lives.
